Starting a New Chapter.

We all believe in starting a new chapter in a world as big as ours, imagining new ideas, and envisioning new dreams, falling in love and one day reliving our stories with our kids. It's the process that makes it hard sometimes to envision our future and how we will end up with the picket fence family with all dreams come true.

Today I sat and envisioned my future and how it will turn out once I finish my last few weeks at the place I used to get so excited to go to, meet new people, and make lifelong memories. We all know that soon it must all come to an end, the high school love we all felt once and the homework we can't wait to leave behind. Soon we will join the adult life we hear so much complaining about.

My school used to be small, and there were not many students to interact with, just enough to keep you company. I had two teachers and subjects I wish I had never taken. My parents always said that if I finished school, I would have a long chapter ahead of me and the start of difficult obstacles. Before I realized the reality, I was applying for universities and planning a life on my own. Everything happened so fast, and my life blew across my head like wind gushing into my face; all that stayed were my hopes and dreams.

As a teenage girl, I always had a fascination with books, specifically romance—not the rainbow and sunshine ones we all know and predict, but the hard reality ones where we can't expect what the next page may hold. I always believed that love was a simple emotion that we feel when we see the person we love, but it was always more than that.

Being in school teaches you a lot about love and betrayal, the feeling of either being popular or the most alone person in the world. It teaches you that in the real world, not everyone is who they seem to be and helps you in the new chapter that soon comes. As for the love we feel, for some it can last till the end, and for others, it can be the start of a new heartbreak.

The new chapter can either be feared or the peak of excitement, the feeling of knowing where we will go or being clueless towards what may happen. Some wait for lost opportunities and some wait for guidance and reassurance. Trust me, a manual is never given once we leave home. We start to learn how to adapt in new places, how to care for ourselves when no one is there, and to love ourselves when no one is there to do it for us. It can be lonely and unpredictable, sometimes even cruel. We all overcome the challenges soon enough and learn how to overcome our obstacles without a bridge to be built. We seek friendships in order to take away our responsibilities in the world and to help us when we need a hand to hold us afloat. Sometimes we receive parental support while other times we are left to fight our own battles.

I wouldn't know the truth about going to universities as I haven't begun my next chapter yet, but I love to predict what is yet to come. I've made really great friends along the way, and even met someone who I proudly say is my lifelong partner. Some say being young means you might not meet the person you will marry one day, but in my case, I'll always fight for the love I believe in.

My new chapter is yet to come, and there are many journeys I can't wait to write about and give the feel of what it feels like to be in a teenage dream or nightmare.
